The rescue added: “As a small non profit, volunteer run, no kill animal shelter we love when anyone wants to get our name and our cats out there, but we just wish Obvious Plant would have worked with us before posting so we could have used the online attention garnered in a way to get more practical help for our rescued animals.”
While the cats don’t seem to be finding homes faster because of the cards, Sante D’or definitely got a kick out of them. “We did think they were funny,” the rescue said in a statement. “And we are still trying to track down the Warlock who turned Delores into a cat. But until we find him, or find her a forever home as a cat, she is welcome to live with us.” To see more of the funny cards, visit Obvious Plant on Tumblr or Instagram.
“We’ve had a great deal of attention online, which our volunteers and adopters enjoyed sharing but ultimately it has not translated to any up swing in real life visitors or any adoptions,” a statement from the shelter says. “Since the post has gone viral we have had one person who came into the rescue who had seen the post who wanted to visit some cats and one online donation for $20 by someone who thought it was funny. In fact we have had more reporters with inquiries than potential adopters!”
